About the ABFF Awards

The American Black Film Festival (ABFF) is a long-established annual acknowledgement that is dedicated to recognizing and showcasing Black excellence in Film. The ABFF film festival platform has discovered and supported emerging artists and storytellers since 1997. In 2016, Jesse Collins Entertainment produced the first annual ABFF Awards during a time that Hollywood was suffering from a marked lack in diverse nominees and winners at the Oscars. Committed to bringing more diversity and acknowledgement of worthy projects, ABFF has branched off and collaborated with BET and Jesse Collins Entertainment to create the ABFF Honors: Celebration of Hollywood awards show. This show recognizes the great accomplishments of artists and producers in Black Hollywood and brings to light all of the diverse talent that exists in the industry.

The show received much praise for its dedication to promoting equality in the Film and TV industry. Past Honorees include, Denzel Washington, Will Packer, Regina King, Queen Latifah and Diahann Carroll.
